ABOUT IVAN LACKOVIC
Politically active painter who was largely self-taught and was associated with the Naïve Art movement. His first watercolors of Zagreb came in 1944, while his first drawings came in 1952.
He held a position as a Zagreb postal worker. He became acquainted with the famed Krsto Hegedušić in 1962. It would be a friendship that would change his life.
He was a founder of the Croatian Democratic Union.
He was born into a family of peasants and carried out farm labor in his youth.
He and Vilko Gecan were fellow Croatian painters.
