ABOUT IVY BAKER PRIEST
After serving as thirtieth Treasurer of the United States of America, this Republican Party politician held office as California State Treasurer.
In 1934, she launched an unsuccessful campaign for a United States Congressional seat from Utah. A decade later, she joined Utah's Republican Committee.
She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The daughter of a gold miner, she grew up in Kimberly, Utah. Her two marriages - to Roy Fletcher Priest and Sidney William Stevens - resulted in a total of four children, including television actress Pat Priest .
She played a key role in mobilizing female voters to support Dwight D. Eisenhower in his 1952 presidential campaign.
