ABOUT J DANIEL HOWARD

After living and working in Japan, Poland, and Cyprus as a United States Foreign Service official, Howard became both United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and Under Secretary of the Navy.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps during the early 1960s, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Chattanooga and his master's degree from the University of Tennessee.

He received a prestigious U.S. State Department award for his foreign affairs work regarding the Philippine People Power Revolution of the mid 1980s.

He was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

During the presidency of Ronald Reagan , Howard was given the titles of White House Deputy Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Special Assistant to the President.
