American mystic and author who became well known for claiming to channel a spirit called Ramtha whose teachings she imparted.
She had her first experience with Ramtha in 1977, shortly after a psychic told her the "Enlightened One" would be appearing to her.
She and the Ramtha School of Enlightenment came under controversy for promoting contradictory and inflammatory statements regarding things like murder, medical care, and other religions.
She was married three times and had two children. She was sued by her ex-husband for convincing him to put off medical treatment on the grounds that Ramtha could heal him.
Her teachings were compared to those of Shirley Maclaine .
