ABOUT JACK BURKE JR.
World Golf Hall of Fame member who won the Masters and PGA Championship in the same year, 1956. The following year, he founded the Champions Golf Club in Houston.
His father ran a country club in Houston and hired a young club pro named Jimmy Demaret to teach his son.
At the height of his career, he had four consecutive PGA Tour victories, a streak surpassed by only a handful of others. He received the PGA Tour Lifetime
Achievement Award in 2003 and the Bob Jones Award in 2004.
His cousin, Dave Marr, won the 1965 PGA Championship.
He and Bob Goalby were longtime friends after spending much time together on the PGA Tour.
