ABOUT JACK LEVINE

Famous for his satirical paintings and prints, this twentieth-century Social Realist artist is remembered for works such as Welcome Home, Election Night, The Arms Brokers, and Birmingham '63.

After studying at Harvard University, he launched his first solo exhibition at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

He was the 1951 recipient of a Fulbright grant.

Born to Jewish immigrant parents from Lithuania, he was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He and his wife and fellow artist, Ruth Gikow, raised their daughter in New York City.

He was a contemporary of fellow American artist and National Academy of Design member Elmer Bischoff .
