Jack Prelutsky
ABOUT JACK PRELUTSKY
Children's poet who wrote The New Kid on the Block and Ride a Purple Pelican, among other popular works. He became the Poetry Foundation's U.S. Children's Poet Laureate in 2006.
He attended Hunter college, but dropped out after repeatedly failing English.
He appeared on an episode of Arthur, an animated PBS series.
He was born and raised in New York City. He married Carolynn Prelutsky in 1979.
While working in a Greenwich Village bookstore, he met and befriended Bob Dylan .
