ABOUT JAMES CLARK
Computer scientist and entrepreneur who founded Silicon Graphics, Inc. and Netscape Communications in Silicon Valley.
After being suspended from high school, he dropped out and joined the U.S. Navy. In 1974, he received his Ph.D in computer science from the University of Utah .
His work in computer graphics enabled systems to render 3-D computer images. He taught electrical engineering at Stanford University from 1979-1984.
He had three children across four marriages. One of his children, Kathy, married YouTube founder Chad Hurley . He had two of his children with Australian television host Kristy Hinze .
Another well-known computer scientist is Jon Bentley .
