American public television journalist and educator who authored the book The Vanishing Vision: The Inside Story of Public Television.
He was born in Alameda, California and attended Sacramento City College and the University of California, Berkeley.
He also taught journalism at the University of California, Berkeley.
He was married to Beverley Hare from 1943 to 1999.
One of his most notable on-air interviews was with the author Ayn Rand in 1974.
