ABOUT JAMES GURNEY
Artist who rose to massive renown for creating the hugely popular book series Dinotopia. He won two Hugo Awards for his first and second books Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time (1992) and Dinotopia: The World Beneath (1995).
He earned his honors bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1979. He later studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
He saw his first book Dinotopia: a Land Apart from Time land on the New York Times' best-seller list in 1992. He saw the dinosaur Torvosaurus gurneyi be named after him in 2014.
His wife's name is Jeanette.
He and Thomas Kinkade collaborated on the 1988 book The Artist's Guide to Sketching.
