His parents got him his first guitar when he was eight years old. By eleven, he had his own blues band.

He answered an advertisement for a guitarist when he was nineteen and, a week later, he was in London playing with Colosseum.

His parents worked in textiles.

He had his own band, which played with Leo Slayer and other well-known musicians.
