James Parkes

ABOUT JAMES PARKES

Primarily remembered for his dedication to combating antisemitism and promoting religious tolerance among his fellow Christians, this cleric, scholar, and activist published important works titled The Jew and His Neighbour and The Conflict of the Church and the Synagogue.

After serving in World War I, he attended Oxford University and was ordained as an Anglican cleric.

He penned articles for a number of prominent journals, including The Jewish Chronicle, The Observer, and Punch and Peace News.

He attended Elizabeth College in his native St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands.

He was a contemporary of fellow author, activist, and Anglican F.R. Scott .
