ABOUT JAMES ARLINGTON WRIGHT
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet whose best-known works include The Branch Will Not Break and
Two Citizens. His work was associated with the Deep Image poetry movement.
His 1956 poetry collection, The Green Wall, won the Yale Younger Poets Prize and launched him to literary fame.
He suffered from depression and alcoholism; however, as is evident in his acclaimed work, The Branch Will Not Break, he believed deeply in the resilience of the human spirit.
His son, Franz Wright , also became a poet.
He collaborated with Robert Bly on translations of international poetry.
