ABOUT JANE NORTON

From 2003 until 2007, this Republican Party politician served as Lieutenant Governor of Colorado. In 2010, she campaigned unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination in the election to fill Michael Bennet's U.S. Senate seat.

After earning a bachelor's degree in health science from Colorado State University, she completed a master's degree in management from Regis University. Early in her political career, she briefly served in the Colorado House of Representatives.

While serving as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, she established the Office of Suicide Prevention.

The daughter of Walter and Elinor Bergman, she grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado. She and her husband, Mike, raised two children.

Under the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush , she was a regional director for the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
