She first played the role of Dorothy Gale on the film, Dorothy Meets Ozma of Oz.

She was raised in Los Angeles, but her family is of Japanese origin. She also went under the name Janice Roman Roku.

She and Chiaki Kuriyama are both Japanese actresses.
