ABOUT JASON SMART
Former center who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1989 and played three seasons for their IHL affiliate, the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
He played for the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL before getting drafted by the Penguins.
He captained the Columbus Chill of the East Coast Hockey League to their first-ever playoff appearance in 1993.
He grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
He was drafted the same year as star center Mats Sundin , who was taken with the first overall pick by the Quebec Nordiques.
