Composer known for collaborating with Ray Evans on numerous songs for films.
He attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song three times with Evans.
He married second wife Shirley Mitchell in 1992.
He and Evans wrote the theme song for the long-running sitcom Mr. Ed starring Alan Young .
