ABOUT JEAN-CLAUDE IZZO
French poet and novelist who shot to fame in the 1990s for Total Chaos, Chourmo, and Solea, neo-crime novoles collectively known as the Marseilles Trilogy.
He wrote stories and poems while in school, but after graduation, was sent to work a lathe. When he was 18, he began working at bookstore.
He campaigned for the Catholic peace movement Pax Christi until he was drafted into the army, where he served as a photographer and a journalist.
His father immigrated to France from Italy and married his mother, who was the daughter of a Spanish immigrant.
