ABOUT JEAN-MICHEL FOLON

Remembered for his illustrations, watercolor paintings, etchings, posters, and sculptures, this Belgian-born visual artist displayed his work at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art; Paris' Musee des Arts Decoratifs; London's Institute of Contemporary Arts; and numerous other world-class galleries.

Before rising to fame as an artist, he was an architecture student at Belgium's Institut Saint-Luc. His debut watercolor exhibition occurred at New York's Lefebre Gallery in the late 1960s.

He was awarded the Grand Prize (in the painting category) at the 1973 Sao Paulo Biennale.

Born and raised in Brussels, Belgium, he later settled in Monaco.

He illustrated the works of such notable authors as Ray Bradbury , Jorge Luis Borges, and Franz Kafka.
