At the age of nineteen she landed her first role in a Broadway play, Your Arms Too Short to Box with God.

She had a recurring role on the hit show Ally McBeal. She played the character Lisa Knowles on six episodes of the show Ally McBeal .

She has been married twice, and her second marriage was to Rev. Andre Woods.

She sang a duet with Jennifer Hudson at the BET Awards in 2007.
