ABOUT JEROME LAWRENCE
Co-writer, with Robert Edward Lee, of classic plays like Inherit the Wind and Auntie Mame. They collaborated until Lee's death in 1994.
He met Lee in 1942 in New York, while working at CBS radio; the two created the Armed Forces Radio network and together produced radio plays for it.
His works have been produced on Broadway, with musical Mame, starring Angela Lansbury , winning him a Tony Award.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and his mother Sarah Rogen was a poet.
His most well-known play, Inherit the Wind, was based on the famous trial of John T. Scopes , who was arrested for teaching evolution in Tennessee.
