Guitarist and songwriter with the grunge and rock band Alice in Chains who also pursued a solo career. The band released 6 studio albums throughout their long career. He has released 4 of his own solo projects since 1998.
He was raised on country music and says he considers himself half-redneck. One of his first bands was Diamond Lie.
He was the president of his award-winning school choir and sang the national anthem at sports events. He collaborated on an album with legendary guitarist and singer Ozzy Osbourne .
His father is a Vietnam veteran; Jerry dedicated the song "Rooster" to him.
