Best known as a singer, songwriter, actress, and comedian. She has performed with the Upright Citizens Brigade, and she is one half of the musical sketch due, The Zach and The Jess. Her TV credits include The Goldbergs and DC Comics' Superhero Girls. Her jessjessmckenna Instagram account features snapshots with friends and professional portraits.

She attended Northwestern University and received her bachelor's degree in Theater.

She also works as a voice actress. She is an avid surfer.

She grew up with a brother. She has dated filmmaker Marc Underhill.
