ABOUT JEWELL PARKER RHODES
Best-selling novelist and educator whose work includes the New York Times bestsellers Black Brother and Ghost Boys. She has been the recipient of The Walter Award, the Indies Choice/EB White Read-Aloud Award, and the Jane Addams Children's Book Award for Older Readers.
She obtained a Doctor of Arts in English from Carnegie Mellon University . Her first novel, Voodoo Dreams, was published in 1993.
In 2006, she released a non-fiction work titled Porch Stories: A Grandmother's Guide to Happiness.
She was born in the United States.
Both she and Josh Groban attended Carnegie Mellon University.
