ABOUT JILL MURPHY
English children's author best known for the popular "Worst Witch" series. Another popular picture book of hers was the "Large Family" series about a family of elephants. She has written over 20 published books.
She began writing while she was in school, and her first novel was published when she was twenty-four.
Her children's book The Last Noo Noo won the Smarties Prize, the Sheffield Children's Book Award, and the Gateshead Gold Award. She has written three novels that were not associated with the "Worst Witch" series.
She had one son, named Charlie.
Her book The Worst Witch was made into to a TV movie, starring Fairuza Balk .
