ABOUT JIM PITTS
Republican politician and member (beginning in 1993) of the Texas House of Representatives. During his time as a Texas legislator, he served on transportation, appropriations, criminal justice, and financial development committees.
After attaining bachelor's and master's degrees in business from Southern Methodist University, he earned a law degree from the same institution.
Before serving in the Texas House of Representatives, he held office as President of the Waxahachie Independent School District's Board.
His marriage to Frances Evelyn Eastham Pitts resulted in three children: Ashley, Ryan, and Duffy.
Texas Governor (and future United States President) George W. Bush rejected Pitts' 1998 proposal of a bill that would make juvenile criminals eligible for the death penalty in Texas.
