Exceptional defensive catcher who won six-straight Gold Glove Awards and was a three-time All-Star during his 16-year MLB career.

He played baseball at the University of Iowa.

He made his MLB debut in 1974 with the Texas Rangers.

He was born in Galesburg, Illinois.

Hall of Fame pitcher Ferguson Jenkins was his teammate on the Rangers.
