Late professional boxer famous for becoming a five-time World Bantamweight Champion. He is a Boxing Hall of Famer and one of very few Champions in boxing history to have retired undefeated.
He was born in Chicago and was trained by Canadian Lightweight Champion Harry Gilmore.
He is infamous for his knockout of Walter Walter Croot, who died after sustaining significant brain damage when his head hit the floor.
His brother, Dave Barry, was a famous boxer and referee.
He and 21-time WBC Minimumweight Champion Ricardo Lopez both retired with undefeated records.
