ABOUT JOAN KROC

Businesswoman and philanthropist who inherited the fortune of her husband, McDonald's CEO Ray Kroc , following his death in 1984. She is also known for being the former owner of Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres.

She was a music student at the MacPhail School of Music.

Her will included many generous donations to charitable causes, including $1.6 billion to the Salvation Army.

Her only child, Linda, was born in 1946.

She was the widow of Ray Kroc , who bought McDonald's for $2.7 million in 1961.
