The host of the Portuguese version of Idol - called Ídolos - he became one of the most popular television personalities in the country.

He studied social communication at Universidade Católica, but dropped out to host the Curto Circuito call-in show that he created.

After Ídolos, he became the host of Portugal's version of So You Think You Can Dance, which launched in 2010.

He was born in Lisbon, Portugal.

Anthony McPartlin was his counterpart in British TV, hosting that country's Pop Idol.
