Left fielder and designated hitter who was the Rookie-of-the-Year in 1980 but never regained that form and was out of the major leagues two years later.
He attended West Valley College in California.
His Rookie-of-the-Year campaign came with the Cleveland Indians; he hit .289 with 23 home runs and 87 RBIs in 453 at-bats.
He grew up in Belvidere, Illinois.
He appeared in the film "The Natural," starring Robert Redford .
