ABOUT JOE GORDON

Played for 13 seasons and won five World Series championships with the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians.

He played four sports in college at the University of Oregon when he wasn't playing violin in the school orchestra.

He won the American League MVP Award in 1942 despite the fact that Ted Williams won the Triple Crown in the same year.

He had a daughter, Judith, and a son, Joseph Jr., with his wife Dorothy.

He spent the early part of his career playing alongside Hall of Fame center fielder Joe DiMaggio on the New York Yankees.
