ABOUT JOE NIXON
From 1995 until 2007, this Republican Party politician served Texas' 133rd District in the state's House of Representatives. He later ran an unsuccessful campaign for a Texas Senate seat.
After earning a bachelor's degree in economics from Texas A&M University, he received a J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law.
While a state representative, he penned Proposition 12, a tort litigation reform measure.
He grew up in Corpus Christi and Houston, Texas, as the son of a novelist mother and a military officer father. He and his wife Allyson later became parents to three sons: Matthew, Stewart, and Nicholas.
He served in the Texas House of Representatives during the gubernatorial administrations of George W. Bush and Rick Perry .
