ABOUT JOEL SARTORE

American conservation photographer known for his contributions to National Geographic, Audubon, Time, and Smithsonian. In collaboration with National Geographic, he founded The Photo Ark, a wildlife photography project aimed at inspiring conservation efforts. He shares photos of wildlife on his joelsartore Instagram account, where he has racked up more than 1.6 million followers.

He studied journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln .

He made an appearance in the 2015 documentary Racing Extinction. He was the National Geographic Explorer of the Year for 2018.

He is from Lincoln, Nebraska.
