Johan Rockström

ABOUT JOHAN ROCKSTRöM

Scientist, conservationist, and joint director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany. He is most widely recognized for his landmark research and work on the planetary boundaries framework, which was published in 2009. He currently posts content related to his work and conservationism to his jrockstrom Twitter account, which has 70,000 followers.

He studied soil science and hydrology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, as well as the Institut National Agronomique in Paris. He went on to earn his Ph.D. from Stockholm University in 1997.

He has received numerous accolades, including the 2015 International Cosmos Prize, the 2017 Hillary Laureate, and the 2020 Monaco Foundation Award.

He is married to his wife Ulrika Rockström.

He co-starred in the Netflix film Breaking Boundaries, alongside David Attenborough .
