John Copley

ABOUT JOHN COPLEY

English producer of opera and theatre. He became known for his work with Opera Australia and for his production work on such filmed operas as La Boheme (in 1982) and Semiramide (in 1990).

He worked briefly as an actor and then became a producer of opera productions at London's Covent Garden.

He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2014.

He was born in Birmingham, England to Ernest Harold Copley and Lilian Forbes.

He and Cameron Mackintosh both had careers as opera producers.
