ABOUT JOHN FORBES
Twentieth-century Australian poet whose works include The Stunned Mullet and Damaged Glamour. He also served as poetry editor of a publication called Scripsi.
He studied at Sydney University, where he met fellow poets Martin Johnston, John Tranter, and Robert Adamson. He published his debut work, Tropical Skiing, in 1976.
He died of a heart attack at the young age of forty-seven.
He was one of four boys born to an Australian meteorologist father.
He was influenced by the work of American poet Frank O'Hara .
