John Lever
ABOUT JOHN LEVER
English former cricketer who played for Essex for twenty-two years and the English national team for eleven. He was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to English cricket.
He was born in the district of Stepney in London.
He is somewhat infamous for his use of vaseline on the cricket ball as a means of getting it to swing better.
His son is left-handed batsman James Lever.
He and Graeme Hick have both been named PCA Player of the Year.
