NFL Hall of Fame tight end who spent most of his career playing for the Baltimore Colts, 1963 to 1971; he died in 2011 of frontotemporal dementia.
He played college football at Syracuse University before joining the Baltimore Colts in 1963.
He revolutionized the tight-end position, putting up unprecedented numbers for average yards per catch.
He was married to Sylvia Mackey, who survived him after his death.
He caught a 75-yard pass from Johnny Unitas in Super Bowl V, propelling the Colts to victory over the Dallas Cowboys, 16-13.
