ABOUT JOHN PEMBERTON
Pharmacist who invented Coca-Cola while looking for a new temperance-friendly drink.
He served in the Civil War in the Confederate Army.
His bookkeeper suggested that he name the new drink Coca-Cola.
His family moved from the small town of Knoxville to Columbus, Georgia, when he was a child. In 1853, he married Miss Lewis in Columbus. They had only one child named Charles Ney Pemberton. In 1853, he married Miss Lewis in Columbus. Their only child, Charles Ney Pemberton, was born in 1854.
His recipe was purchased by Asa Candler for $2,300, and they created the Coca-Cola company together.
