ABOUT JOHN H. STRIEBEL

Creator of the longrunning Dixie Dugan syndicated cartoon strip, which was about the exploits of a Hollywood showgirl.

Before creating the comic strip, he illustrated the Dixie Dugan novel series written by J.P. McEvoy, deciding in 1929 to make it a daily newspaper cartoon.

Aside from Dixie Dugan, he also worked on an eight-year strip called Pantomime and illustrations for various magazines.

He was born in Bertrand, Michigan, and moved with his family to South Bend, Indiana at a young age.

Bil Keane was another well-know cartoonist. He created the popular Family Circus strip.
