ABOUT JOHNNY HARTMAN
Louisiana-born jazz singer. He recorded numerous solo jazz ballads and also collaborated with legendary saxophonist John Coltrane on a 1963 album.
He attended Chicago Musical College in the late 1930s and early 1940s. In 1946, he was discovered by jazz pianist Earl Hines .
His debut solo album, Songs from the Heart, was released in 1955.
He was born in Houma, Louisiana and raised in Chicago, Illinois.
He toured in 1948 with Dizzy Gillespie 's jazz band.
