ABOUT JOHNNY REBEL
Controversial Cajun country music singer known for his outwardly racist recordings, which were typically aimed at African-Americans. Some of his most well-known songs, the majority of which were recorded in the 60's, were included on the 1971 compilation For Segregationists Only.
He first began recording under the Johnny Rebel moniker in Crowley, Louisiana during the height of the civil rights movement. His first release was the single "Lookin' for a Handout"/"Kajun Ku Klux Klan".
Several of his songs have been misattributed to other artists, including Buddy Holly , Johnny Horton and David Allan Coe .
His birth name was Clifford Joseph Trahan. He was married and he had a son.
He was interviewed as a guest on The Howard Stern Show.
