ABOUT JOHNNY RODRIGUEZ
Country music's first Latino chart-topping artist, who had six #1 singles in the 1970s, including "Desperado." In 1973, he won Most Promising Male Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at age twenty-one to pursue a music career. He signed with Mercury Records in the early 1970s.
He had his only #1 US Country album with his debut effort, Introducing, in 1973. His last album, Live from Texas, was released in 2012.
He had a daughter named Aubrey with his third wife, Debbie McNeely.
He performed the duet "Out Last Night" with Donna Fargo in 1987.
