ABOUT JON ALPERT

American journalist and film director known for his documentaries in the cinéma vérité style. He is a 17-time Emmy award winner and has traveled the world for his investigative journalism. His 2021 documentary Life of Crime 1984-2020 earned positive reviews from critics and fans.

He attended Colgate University where he majored in urban studies. He spent his junior year of college on an exchange taking classes at New York University .

He has a black belt in karate and has broken nearly every bone in his body because he is an adventure seeker and enjoys activities like hockey, karate, and horseback riding.

He founded a non-profit organization called Downtown Community Television Center (DCTV) with his wife Keiko Tsuno. He has a daughter named Tami.

In one of his most famous films, Cuba and the Cameraman, he includes footage of interviewing Fidel Castro . He has also interviewed Saddam Hussein .
