American R&B artist known by his stage name, Jon B. He has written songs for artists like Toni Braxton , Michael Jackson , and Color Me Badd.

He began singing when he was four and later learned piano, keyboard, bass, and drums. His demos caught the attention of Tracey Edmonds in 1992, and he began writing songs for her and her husband.

He was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for "Someone to Love" with Babyface.

His father was a professor of music at Cal State, and his mother was a concert pianist. His brother and sister also became musicians.

He was a friend and collaborator of Tupac Shakur .
