Defender who joined Club Nacional in 2014. He previously played for Porto from 2007 to 2014. He became a member of the Uruguayan national team in 2006.

He debuted professionally for Liverpool Montevideo in 2002.

He helped Porto win five Portuguese League titles.

He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay.

He and Diego Forlan became teammates on the Uruguayan national team.
