Jorge Majfud
ABOUT JORGE MAJFUD
Uruguayan writer who published the acclaimed novel, La Reina de America, in 2001. His other popular works include La Ciudad de la Luna, Crisis, and Cyborgs.
He studied architecture at the Universidad de la Republica and later received his PhD from the University of Georgia.
He was awarded the Excellence in Research Award in Humanities and Letters in 2006.
He was born in Tacuarembo, Uruguay. He later taught at universities in Pennsylvania and Florida.
He and baseball player Gordon Beckham both studied at the University of Georgia.
