Dominican salsa singer who has been in the music business for thirty years, known by the nickname El Canario.
He studied singing while at the Las Antillas Military Academy and went on to sing in many orchestras before becoming the bandleader of Tipica 73 in 1977.
He established a new style of salsa with his 1991 album, Dance With Me.
He was born in Santo Domingo and moved with his family to Puerto Rico at age seven.
He opened for Celia Cruz at The Bacardi Darling Harbor Latin American Festival in Sydney in 1999.
