ABOUT JOSE MANUEL ZAMACONA
Mexican actor and musician, known as the founder and lead singer of the band, Los Yonic's. He also played a role in the 1991 film, Las baileras (palabras tristes). He has gained over [TT100,000TT] followers on TikTok, under the handle yonicszamacona.
He founded the grupero band, Los Yonic's, in 1975 and played in the band until his passing in 2021. The band formed in San Luis San Pedro, but later moved to Acapulco, playing both tropical pop music and ballads.
His music became very popular among American Hispanics in cities such as Los Angeles, San Jose, Phoenix, Arizona, and El Paso. His band, Los Yonic's, had a string of #1 albums on the Billboard Regional Mexican charts in the 1980s, and continued to enjoy chart success on the American market since.
He passed away on July 4, 2021, in Mexico City after battling COVID-19. His son, Jose Manuel Zamacona Chavarria, has continued playing in and promoting the band.
